[GregLehmann 2007-08-27] The pseudo cartoon cityscape makes Brisbane look like it is on a lake. Given we sell ourselves as a River City maybe it should emphasize this, if we want a cityscape. There should be all sorts of artwork around with the River festival coming up again to take ideas from. The mosaic at the Mt Cootha lookout is another example that could provide an idea: http://www.brisbanelookout.com/pages/lookout.html
[rs 2007-08-27] Andy has another idea for the logo, different from the humbug logo based one. This is the svg version, and this is the png version if your browser won't display svg.
[gd 2007-07-12] More modifications. Here is a version with the linux.conf.au text moved downwards slightly, and all text changed to BitStream Vera Sans Mono: as InkScape SVG file, and as PNG file. I've also made one with the linux.conf.au text above the platypus: as InkScape SVG file, and as PNG file.
[GavinDuley 2007-07-12] I've made a few changes to the text of the logo. Here is my proposed update as an svg file, and here it is as a png file. I put a black box around the logo solely to try to convince Inkscape to export the whole of the logo as a PNG, it didn't want to -- so ignore that bit.
[rs 2007-07-01] Andy sat down with me at humbug and had a play with the Humbug logo. This was is what resulted. It requires an svg viewer to display it or Inkscape 4.5 to edit it. Here is a raster version.
[me 2007-05-19] Sent email to Pascal Klein http://klepas.org, a young open source artist in Canberra asking if he is interested in doing some artwork for us, including possibly the logo as well. Now waiting for response.
- [rs 2007-04-28] Andy responded saying he is indeed interested, but he is currently on a trip until May 28th. This is cutting it fine, but I think there should be enough time.
[rs 2007-04-27] Sent an email to Andy Fitzsimon asking him if he is still interested in doing the artwork. He had said "yes" to aj after the wine had been flowing for a while at LCA 2007, but I am not sure that can be considered binding.
The major, must do, task is the Logo.
Other thing is gathering pictures and what not. Upload the end results to here as attachments.
