Meetings

Meetings are held at UQ St Lucia Campus unless otherwise stated. The meeting starts at 3pm and can go until midnight. Our talks usually run from 6pm till 7pm, after which most members go out for dinner. The meeting rooms can change from fortnight to fortnight, so see the Meeting Dates and Rooms section for a complete list of bookings. Need a map of the Campus? Your First Time

For first timers it's best to bring along a computer that you're working on. UQ generously provides limited Internet access, which is available to financial members of HUMBUG. We use this access to solve Unix/Linux problems. If you're looking at installing Unix/Linux then you'll need space on your machine to do it. This depends largely on what you want to use. The average minimum is about 10G, but it can be a lot less for cut-down installs. Most HUMBUG members are happy to help with a new install of Unix/Linux or to provide advice. However, HUMBUG is not a paid support team, so don't expect easy answers without some effort of your own.

Alternatively, you might consider coming to one of our talks on topics ranging from basic all the way up to highly technical.

Parking

Car parking is okay on a Saturday without a permit but you may need to park a bit far away from the rooms. Please do not park in the areas clearly signed as 'No Parking' as security do not like this and have the power to issue fines.

Food/Drinks

In and around the UQ campus there are number of options to get food/drink in the event of being hungry/thirsty. Some of the options are:

• Vending Machines. Located near our meeting venue. These machines usually are limited to small snacks and soft drinks.

• Hawken Village. This shopping/dining area located within a short walking distance of UQ (600 metres) has options such as Cafes, Chinese, Kebabs, Indian, Italian/Pizza, Japanese/Sushi, Malaysian, Seafood, Subway, Thai, Turkish and Vegetarian. There is also a Coles Supermarket located at the village that is open from 8am to 5pm on Saturday.

• UQ Pizza Cafe. Located in the UQ Union complex near the Schonell Theatre.
